Hand-lettered CAM'S ART mark

About · @_camsart_

Cam
Willis

I draw with a pen first: dense crosshatching, heavy blacks and contour lines. Then I push the same hand into loud Copic colour, acrylic canvases with a woodcut bite, quick Procreate brush-ink and big architecture-studio sheets.

About

I’m an illustrator, painter and architecture student at the Knowlton School of Architecture, Ohio State. I’ve posted 158 times as @_camsart_ since March 2021, most of it since October 2025.

Pen & ink is where everything starts for me: Micron, rapidograph, crow quill, dense crosshatching and heavy blacks. I put my hand-lettered “CAM’S ART” mark on digital pieces and sign paper pieces “CW” with the year.

What I work in

What I draw

Grotesque, rubbery cartoon faces and comic-book brawls in an underground-comix vein (I tag Robert Crumb a lot). Film and TV fan art, especially The Sopranos and Marty Supreme. And architecture as illustration: sections packed with tiny cartoon people.

How I got here

  1. 2021–22

Copic-marker and colored-pencil cartoons, superheroes, my first crow quill crosshatching, and my “RISD works” carousel.

  2. 2023

My sketchbook year: Micron crosshatch pages, “Sustained Investigation”, “Mindbook”.

  3. Fall 2025

First semester in studio at Knowlton: sections, axonometrics, ink + watercolor collages, “Extroverts” on 24x36″.

  4. Dec 2025 – Mar 2026

I did a Procreate brush-ink sketch nearly every day and posted most of them with a time-lapse reel.

  5. Spring 2026

I built the “House for Everything” 1/4″ model and drew the 15-panel “CITY MAYHEM” mural.

  6. Summer 2026

I started painting acrylic on stretched canvas: commissions, plus studies after Simon Bisley, Glenn Fabry and Carl Critchlow.
